PASTEURIZER OPERATOR (3rd Shift, 10:45pm - 11:00am)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The position ensures that product, remnant packaging, and process norms comply with quality and food safety standards for the company’s beverage base blending/packaging facility located in Bartow, FL.   Reporting to the Production Supervisor, this position performs the Key Function of HACCP CCP of pasteurizing and homogenizing product to customer requirements.  This position monitors the pasteurizer’s differential pressures, pasteurization temperatures, and flow rates. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Handle the put away of Remnant drums which are generate at the pasteurizer Phase-in and Phase-outs along with remnant drums generated at Package Filling Lines and the Base Line.
    • Properly tag remnant drums with proper Material Number and Batch Number
  • Operates Plate and Frame Heat Exchangers, Tubular Heat Exchangers, and Two-Stage Homogenizers.
  • Handle Phase IN and Phase OUTS of pasteurizers into drums
  • Follow MMI Instructions for Pasteurization Processing Temperatures and Hold Times.
  • Perform CIP of Pasteurizers and Homogenizer. 
    • Perform ATP Swabs and collect rinse water samples.
  • Maintain GMP of the entire Pasteurizer Area.
  • Maintain Processing Equipment in good order.
  • Maintain SAP records of process completed.
  • Collect samples of product and complete required compositional testing to ensure all product meets specifications.
  • Monitor, observe, and operate computers and graphs to control and direct flow of pasteurizing process.
  • Print and Review HACCP Trend Reports and submit to offices on a timely basis
  • Washing and sanitizing of lines and CIP equipment per requirements: Monitoring, documenting and executing CIP processes for in-spec time, temperature, flow, function and chemical concentration. Efficiently coordinating washes to ensure that plant CIP downtime is minimized.
  • Inspecting of lines for visible foreign material, CIP residue, or any physical conditional that would hinder the ability to produce safe quality food.
  • Ensure proper CIP’s are performed based on the cleaning matrix.
  • Communicating any food safety, product quality, or processing related issues to management.
  • Must work closely with Blenders and Filler Operators to communicate product flows and product availability. 
  • Required to assist the quality lab with samples related to the pasteurization process and be able to log them manually and/or electronically.
  • All documentation must be accurate and done timely. Must follow GMP, Safety, SOP and HACCP procedures.
  • Meets all “Good Manufacturing Practices”.
  • Practices safety requirements established by OSHA and Peace River Citrus Products.
  • Be available to work extended shifts and days.
  • Any additional duties assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Basic knowledge of computer functions on a keyboard
  • Prefer forklift experience
  • Attention to detail and familiarity with industrial equipment
  • Excellent physical condition and coordination
  • Valid certification to operate forklifts
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Utilizes advance skills of reading, writing, speaking, analytical capacity and high level of professional judgment to resolve problems affecting work area.
  • Applies communication skills to perform work and coordinate with others.
  • Works with computers and other electronic communication devices; including programs to prepare documents or reports, as necessary.
  • Ability to take prompt and appropriate response to operating conditions.
  • Work with other department leadership & employees, including senior level management.
  • Be flexible regarding duties, as directed by leadership.
